BGK represents my grandparents. To me they are the epitome of a life lived well. Betty and Gene Kern were both born in the 1920’s, served their country in WWII and were part of the “greatest generation”.
They raised 4 children and had 10 grandchildren. He was a foreman for GM Frigidaire and she a homemaker; which was typical for their era and generation. Part of their life lessons were grounded in the ordinary struggles we all have in our lives.
They lived pragmatically and prudently; family vacations were two week road-trips across the country to see relatives. They weren’t famous or exceptionally wealthy; but they lived happily and had exceedingly full lives.
From their example I learned to provide advice which is prudent in its content and use, practical in its application, and principled with honesty and integrity.

As a father of 5, Joel Newcomb spent almost 20 years in the financial industry as a planner and investor.
